Trkiye Confirms Stable Energy Supply from Multiple Sources

Ankara: Trkiye's Energy and Natural Resources Minister, Alparslan Bayraktar, has confirmed that the nation secures its energy from a variety of sources, ensuring stable supply and security.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Bayraktar addressed Turkish journalists during the Nuclear Energy Summit in Boulogne-Billancourt, near Paris. He highlighted Trkiye's ongoing investments in diverse energy sources to establish a "more balanced energy mix," anticipating increased electricity demand as it becomes more integral across economic sectors.

Bayraktar stressed that diversifying energy routes and sources is vital for enhancing supply security, linking energy independence to economic independence. He emphasized the importance of international cooperation and diversification in achieving energy security.

During the summit, Bayraktar engaged in bilateral discussions with Rafael Mariano Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, and officials from Italy, Serbia, among others. He underscored the significance of holding a nuclear energy summit amid global concerns over oil and gas prices and supply security.

Bayraktar noted challenges faced by several countries in accessing oil and gas. The current global energy market volatility stems from US-Israeli attacks on Iran, with Tehran's retaliatory actions impacting Israel and US interests in the region.

Iran's announcement of the Strait of Hormuz closure, threatening ships attempting passage, has exacerbated the situation. Approximately 20 million barrels of oil transit this strait daily, and its closure has led to increased shipping and insurance costs, spiking oil prices and stirring worries about global economic impacts.
