Trkiye Urges Unconditional Inclusion in ‘Made in the EU’ Policy

Brussels: Trkiye is pushing for its full and unconditional inclusion in the "Made in EU" policy, as announced by Turkish Trade Minister Omer Polat following discussions with representatives from the European automotive industry in Brussels.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Polat shared on the "NSosyal" platform that he engaged in talks with Sigrid de Vries, the Director General of the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA), focusing on the "Made in EU" policy and its potential impacts on the automotive industry system between Trkiye and the European Union.

During a roundtable meeting with representatives from ACEA member companies, the Turkish delegation highlighted the significant investments European automotive firms have made in Trkiye over the years. These investments are seen as concrete evidence of the deep industrial integration fostered by the Customs Union between Trkiye and the EU, reflecting a partnership grounded in mutual trust.

Polat stated that there was a consensus among automotive sector representatives on the necessity of Trkiye's unconditional inclusion in the "Made in the EU" policy. He expressed satisfaction with the agreement among sector representatives regarding this inclusion.

The minister reiterated Trkiye's commitment to strengthening and developing its automotive industry, which he identified as a crucial pillar of trade integration with the European Union. This effort is supported by the private sector.

According to the Automotive Industry Exporters' Association, Trkiye's automotive sector retained its leading position among Turkish export sectors in 2025, with exports rising by 11.6 percent to a record $41.5 billion. Exports to EU countries amounted to $30.11 billion, making up 72.5% of the total exports, underscoring the sector's integration into the European market.
