Trump Administration Weighs Strikes on Iranian Nuclear Sites

Axios: The administration of US President Donald Trump is considering expanding the scope of military strikes against Iran, including the possibility of targeting nuclear facilities again, while simultaneously sending dozens of refueling aircraft to Israel in preparation for a potential escalation of operations, according to the Axios website.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the website quoted three American and Israeli officials as saying that Washington informed Israel of its decision to send more refueling aircraft, a move aimed at supporting any potential military operations should the campaign against Iran be expanded.

The report further reveals that Trump is contemplating a broader attack than the current strikes, which are concentrated around the Strait of Hormuz. This consideration follows a briefing on several new military plans during a meeting in the White House Situation Room on Tuesday.

Officials mentioned, as per Axios, that launching new strikes against Iranian nuclear facilities is one of the options under consideration, aiming to further bury existing uranium stockpiles. This would potentially reduce the chances of accessing or using these materials in the future.

The report also suggests that the US administration is exploring the possibility of expanding its target bank inside Iran, although it does not specify the nature of the additional sites or the timing of any potential decision.

There has been no official comment from the White House or the US Department of Defense regarding the Axios report, nor has Israel officially confirmed receiving notification of the deployment of refueling aircraft.

The information cited in the report stems from unnamed officials, and the exploration of military options does not necessarily mean the US administration has made a final decision to implement them.

The Axios report aligns with recent Israeli statements indicating that Washington is considering expanding its target bank within Iran, beyond the strikes that have focused in recent days on targets related to the Strait of Hormuz region.
