Istanbul: Turkish club Trabzonspor officially announced on Thursday the signing of Egyptian international star Mohamed Salah on a contract extending until the summer of 2028. The transfer was a free transfer following Salah's mutual departure from Liverpool. The contract was signed in the presence of club president Ertugrul Dogan.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the club stated that Salah signed a two-year contract with Trabzonspor during a ceremony attended by Dogan. The club explained that, under the agreement, the player will receive a guaranteed salary of £17 million per season, comprised of a £10 million annual salary and a £7 million signing bonus.

The contract also includes conditional bonuses for each season, in addition to Salah receiving 20% of the revenue from merchandise bearing his name and sold exclusively through the club's stores, according to the image rights agreement between the two parties.

Salah, 34, arrived in Istanbul on Wednesday evening, where he was greeted by large crowds of fans before undergoing medical examinations. Trabzonspor is expected to present its new player to its fans this evening, Thursday, during a ceremony at Barbar Park Stadium, having invited supporters to attend wearing the team's new jersey.

With this move, Salah begins a new chapter in his career, following the end of his nine-year spell with Liverpool, which concluded with the mutual termination of his contract, despite it running until the summer of 2027. During his time at Liverpool, the Egyptian international scored 257 goals in 442 appearances, contributing to the team's two Premier League titles and one Champions League victory, in addition to several other domestic and continental trophies.
