Brussels: The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has reaffirmed its decision to boycott FIFA competitions, including the World Cup, despite FIFA's recent decision to withdraw its proposal to open the tournament to foreign investors. This move underscores the ongoing tension between UEFA and FIFA.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, UEFA issued a statement emphasizing the clarity of its member associations regarding the terms for non-participation in FIFA events. The statement highlighted that while FIFA has retracted its contentious project, UEFA remains steadfast in its demand for assurances that similar initiatives will not be attempted in the future.

UEFA's demand for guarantees stems from a desire to prevent any perceived distortion of football, maintaining that the conditions for restoring participation have not been met.
