Baghdad: The Meteorological Authority forecasted that temperatures across Iraq are set to decrease in the coming days, with Sulaymaniyah recording below 40 degrees Celsius.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Meteorological Authority released a statement indicating that Saturday’s weather will be generally clear to partly cloudy, with the possibility of rain in the eastern parts of the northern region. The temperatures are expected to remain similar to those recorded the previous day throughout the country.

The statement detailed the maximum temperatures anticipated for Saturday in various Iraqi governorates: Sulaymaniyah at 39°C, Duhok at 40°C, Erbil at 42°C, Nineveh and Anbar at 45°C, Kirkuk and Salah al-Din at 46°C, while Baghdad, Diyala, and Babylon are predicted to reach 47°C. Further, Karbala, Wasit, Najaf, and Diwaniyah are expected to see temperatures of 48°C, Basra at 49°C, with Muthanna and Maysan at 50°C, and Dhi Qar at a high of 51°C.

The forecast also mentioned that Sunday’s weather will be clear with some clouds, accompanied by a chance of rain in the eastern parts of the northern region, with light showers possible. Winds are predicted to be light to moderate southwesterly, becoming more active in the central and northern regions, reaching speeds up to 30 km/h and causing light dust. A slight temperature decrease is expected in the central and northern regions, while the southern region will maintain similar conditions.

The Meteorological Authority further indicated that Monday will see generally clear skies with temperatures dropping a few degrees compared to the previous day. By Tuesday, the weather is expected to be clear nationwide, with temperatures remaining stable in the central and northern regions and experiencing a slight decrease in the southern region.
