Baghdad:National Security Adviser Qasim Al-Aboudi emphasized Iraq’s dedication to forming strategic and balanced relationships with neighboring and friendly nations to serve mutual interests and contribute to regional security and stability.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Aboudi met with British Ambassador to Iraq Irfan Siddiq to explore ways to enhance relations between Iraq and the United Kingdom, aiming to serve the mutual interests of both nations. Al-Aboudi highlighted the importance of strengthening economic and trade ties to solidify political partnerships and expand cooperation opportunities.

The discussions also covered a recent meeting between Iraq’s Prime Minister Ali Al-Zeidi and the UK Prime Minister in New York, which was seen as a positive step in enhancing bilateral relations and opening new avenues for joint cooperation.

Al-Aboudi reiterated the Iraqi government’s commitment to maintaining the country’s security and stability, stating that Iraq would not permit its territory to be used for attacks against other nations, adhering to its policy of respecting state sovereignty and promoting regional security.

The adviser mentioned directives from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces to develop comprehensive programs for training, armament, and restructuring, aimed at improving the military and security forces’ capabilities and readiness.

Ambassador Siddiq expressed the UK government’s support for Iraq’s governmental programs and affirmed the UK’s willingness to boost cooperation in various sectors, including information exchange and economic and investment collaboration.
